| Ukrainian born - Lilia Shatnaya is the designer and founder of Lilia Jewelry - a unique line of jewelry that caters to fun and fearless women who are not afraid to set the trend. Her pieces are bold yet feminine, with a vintage look and a modern splash of color. The jewelry expresses her inimitable personality and style. Lilia decided to pursue a career in the arts when she was just a toddler. Her parents declared their child a genius by witnessing a marvelous drawing on their bedroom wallpaper when Lilia was two years old. She took every single art class in her high school, but her favorites were the ones where you could make things with your hands. She went on to pursue a Bachelors of Fine art in Computer Art, at New York¹s School Of Visual Arts and has worked as a Web, Graphics and Video and Special Effects designer. While on a search for a job in the Computer Design field, Lilia started making jewelry. She taught herself wire wrapping, gemstone names and properties and soon a line of jewelry emerged. As many successful ventures, this one started as a hobby but soon grew into a full time business. She is now attending New York's FIT Jewelry Design Program. Lilia makes all the pieces by hand. She uses semiprecious stones to complement the antique filigrees in the pieces. Lilia doesn¹t like dull colors and like the designer, her line is vibrant, colorful, fun and flirty. It is now sold in New York¹s Searle and Anthropologie. Lilia's best friend, Vickie Slavinskaya, oversees Marketing and Sales for the company. |
